What is laser hair reduction ?

This treatment uses a specially designed laser that targets specific hairs, destroying their follicles to reduce further growth and after several sessions dramatically reduces hair growth in the areas being treated.

Laser hair reduction is a simple, safe and pain free solution for reducing unwanted hair for both men and women. Body and Face Works have both Nd Yag and IPL laser which can be used on most skin types from very light to black skins . This treatment gives long lasting results that can be noticed after a couple of sessions but for guaranteed reduction a course of treatments will be necessary.

Is laser hair removal it painful? What does it feel like?

Laser hair removal isn’t painful but it may be slightly uncomfortable depending on the area being treated. Places like the bikini line or the upper lip might be more sensitive but the treatment is so quick you’ll hardly notice it.

Some people describe the feeling like a rubber band being snapped against the skin or others say it feels like a very light pin prick.

Will I get any scars?

The risk of any scarring is extremely minimal, only when pre existing skin conditions are involved might this happen, which is why you will have a consultation prior to treatment.

I’m quite fair skinned and my hair is light, will laser hair removal work for me?

Very light hair will make this treatment more difficult but it can depend on your skin tone too. The best results are seen on light coloured skins with darker hair growth. A consultation with our technicians will determine if this treatment will be effective for you.

What laser do you use?

At Body & Face Works we use the Nd Yag laser which is proven to work on almost all skins types including darker skin tones and tanned skin. It is also proven to be one of the quickest lasers for larger body areas.

How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

It depends on the area being treated , skin and hair type . However a minimum of 6 treatments is usually necessary.

Is the laser hair removal permanent?

In most cases it has been reported that the hair removal has been permanent, however the few remaining cases find that laser hair removal greatly reduces the re-growth of any unwanted hair.

A top up session is sometimes required every 6-12 months to keep the area smooth and hair free .
